KORAIGAD TREK 19/07/2009

******** KORAI GAD *********

Fort Name : Korai Gad
Level Of Difficulty : Easy
Best time to visit : Monsoon

Korai Gad located near Amby Valley, Lonavala.

As I have said earlier, start trekking with a trek having lest level of difficulty....

Me and my friends did the same thing... We chose Korai Gad....

Korai Gad : A simple flat top fort and best for trekking beginners and children too as the trek is hardly of 45 minutes to 1 hour max. to the top. This area is most of the time engulfed in Fog in rainy season. One can see part of one of the most exotic places in India, the beautiful Amby valley adjoining this fort.

We started our journey by private vehicle (Bikes) around 8 am in the morning from chinchwad.
The road to reach Lonavala is the Pune Mumbai Old Highway. As we started our journey early in the morning, we stopped at Bharati Vadewale on the highway for breakfast.

After the breakfast, we started our journey to lonavala.
We reached lonavala around 10.30 to 11 am in the chowk where we can see Kumar Water Resort on the left hand side.

From that chowk, we took the left hand side road to Amby Valley Sahara City. The fort is about 20 kms from the chowk.

On this route, we can see the well known famous place i.e. BHUSHI DAM.

This is the most memorable day in my life as I was driving my bike through FOG where the road few metres ahead was unseen.....So i had to drive slowly to avoid accident. The road is fine.

We reached near to the base of the fort around 12 noon. We parked our bikes near a temple and started trekking.

Initial part of the trek consists of plain part and afterwards steps.

Koraigad is famous for its excellent fortification (‘Tatbandi’). There are two lakes and many cannons on the fort. Korai devi temple – the deity of the fort Koraigad (4ft height).

Please carry some food with you, as there is nothing available on the fort.
We can see a beautiful view of Sahara City,Amby Valley from the fort.

HOW TO START TREKKING...???

As we have seen earlier that, trekking requires a lot of stamina and energy...

So at the beginning, start with a trek with least level of difficulty. Because if u directly go for a difficult trek, u wont be able to complete the trek and may face some kind of danger as you are not used to it.

Hence, first we need to build stamina first and get used to all these things by starting trek with a least level of difficulty.

I have also started trekking recently and wanted to share my experiences with all of you, which will help you to plan ur trek properly and not repeat some mistakes (if any) done by me...

So keep reading the posts regularly...

THINGS NECESSARY FOR TREKKING...

Lets discuss about the trekking necessities...

For example: if u are planning a trek to any fort, first get as much info as u can about following:

2. Trekking Shoes which has nice grip(Hunter Shoes)
3. Extra Clothes (if required)
4. Food, water
5. Map if possible

WHAT IS TREKKING....???

Many of us are interested in trekking..

But before going for any trek, first find out the actual meaning of trek...

In simple words TREK means a long, hard journey which need a tremendous amount of stamina and energy.

So, before going for any trek first and the most important thing to consider is the difficulty level of the trek.

Because higher the difficulty level, higher stamina and energy is required.

So first look for the difficulty level and then plan the trek accordingly.
